Story

Tramonti

Tramonti began as paintings. Maria Scarpulla did not dilute them to make lamps — the technical parts were added around the painting, and the painting stayed as it was, with a soft halo of light around it.

Hence the name: tramonti, the Italian word for sunsets.

There are five shapes and five colours — deep blue, dark red, off-white, dark green, black — meant to be combined into a composition on the wall. One oval is made in stainless steel, for an extra mirror-like spark.

The painting is not diluted to make a lamp. The technicalities were added around it, and a halo of light with them.

Designed by Maria Scarpulla

Belgian

Blending the lustrous hues of her Italian upbringing with pared-down Belgian simplicity, Maria Scarpulla’s work is rooted in a universal language of form and freedom. She recently debuted an ambitious series of tables with vibrant double-sided tops that cleverly incorporate her own paintings—a testament to her deep understanding of how color and choice impact mood.

About Valerie Objects

A Belgian design label, valerie_objects asks designers like Muller Van Severen to give daily objects their beauty back.

Axel Van Den Bossche, who founded Serax, and Veerle Wenes of the design gallery Valerie Traan started valerie_objects in Belgium. The designers Muller Van Severen were the first to sign with the label.

Maarten Baas, Studio Wieki Somers and big-game have followed, each chosen for a signature you can recognise whether they make a table or a teapot. Everything is drawn for daily use.
