Story

Standing lamp n°1 & Standing lamp Marble

The standing lamp is the hanging lamp brought down to the floor. Same concept — a simple, colourful drawing made real in a room — with two small lines added at the bottom to become legs.

The marble version keeps the metal arm and swaps the base for a block of stone. The construction stays completely visible, as if a child had drawn it, and the weight moves to the floor where it is needed.

The duo have called it their most romantic design. It is hard to argue with: sober, stylised, and unmistakably the light under a street lantern.

Left, the standing lamp beside a rocking chair — the hanging lamp brought down to the floor. Right, the marble foot that holds it there.

Muller Van Severen

Designed by Muller Van Severen

Belgian · founded 2011

Muller Van Severen was founded in 2011 by Belgian artist duo Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen. The couple have always been on an inspired quest for sculpturally interesting furniture objects, and their work sits somewhere between design and art, drawing on their passion for architecture and materials. They have won countless awards and collaborated with prestigious international museums and galleries.

A shared love of colour and materials is often the inspiration behind many of Muller Van Severen’s designs. The designer duo is constantly seeking new ways to present the natural beauty of the materials they use, striving to give the materials their own distinct presence.
