Marianne Brandt & Hin Bredendieck

The DMB 26 ceiling lamp came out of a collaboration between Marianne Brandt, who ran the Bauhaus metal workshop, and Hin Bredendieck, a fellow student there.

It is close to the minimum a pendant lamp can be: an opal glass sphere, three thin rods, a round ceiling plate. Nothing is added to hide the fixing.

Bredendieck later emigrated to the United States and founded the industrial design programme at Georgia Tech, where he taught for over two decades.
